Shaffi graduated from the School of Business, University of Bridgeport, USA with the MBA Degree in April, 1992 with specialization in Finance. Shaffi was in the Dean’s List of the School of Business in 1991-92. He was very active in the Indian Students Association in the University. He did a very interesting project studying the possibility of the merger / co-operation of the Indian Students Association and the Pakistani Students Association as part of the Organizational Dynamics Course he took in the MBA program.

Shaffi also led student protest against misuse of University funds by the then administration when the university itself was going through a very tough financial situation. He was featured in the New York Times and a host of local Connecticut media for his leadership role in battling for transparency in the use of University funds.

University of Bridgeport is an independent, non-sectarian university located on Long Island Sound in the South Bridgeport section of Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA. The school is the tenth-most racially diverse university in the country.
